Back on Linux
I was using Windows now for almost one year because of some windowsonly programs that I like ( Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PAUP* and so on). But I like Ubuntu Linux much more, so I tried out some virtual machines. VirtualBox was good for me. Now I am running Ubuntu 8.04 with VBox installed. It is just great! The VBox with XP in seamless mode is like heaving an additional panel with Windows menus on it, in the Windows I use the same theme as in Linux, so Win and Linux windows look the same.
All the installed programs on the VBox XP and in Linux work fine and fast (I have the luck having 8GB of RAM on my machine).
My most used programs on Windows XP:
- Adobe Illustrator
- InDesign
- Photoshop
- PAUP*
- VisualStudio (for compiling c++)
Most used on Linux:
- Firefox
- Gnome Terminal
- Kine (for LaTeX)
- Gedit
- g++ compiler
- Open Office
- MrBayes
- Phyml
- Paml
- Pidgin
- gFTP
And I’m apt-getting …
